Licensing Act 2003 and clubs

I've just been looking at this for the Nottingham Club, and my reading is that existing club registration certificates will have to be replaced before a date to be set approximately 9 months after 7th February, 2005, when the new regime comes into force. The concern is that the fees payable under the new regime will be much higher, and based on the rateable value of the premises on the same scale as for commercial ones. The CCPR have apparently been lobbying against this, but I do not know if they will succeed. However, the good news is that otherwise the requirements for rules, etc., look similar to the existing ones.

I am hoping that a member who is a solicitor will come up with some more definitive advice which could be sent to clubs in a CA Club Circular.
