Blewbury beat Auckland at Nottingham 4-3

(GC - Inter-Club)
The match was played at Nottingham and both teams initially had to overcome the latest hurdles devised by the local transport authorities, namely a forced detour via Derby. The morning sessions all went in favour of Blewbury but Aukland clearly had the better lunch. Freda Vitty played a captain's match to take the first of the afternoon singles, soon followed by Eugene Brady. When Pat Rogers pulled out a third win (after losing his first game) it was all square. Roger Cotes was finding his form and took the first game off John Spiers. Spiers took the second game and led 6-3 in the final before Roger won hoops 10 and 11, then had to watch his attempt at 12 hit the wrong side of the wire. Blewbury thus scraped home and the captain will be taking a careful look at what is in the team's lunch boxes before the next outing.
