The first event, the Handicap Doubles was won by Mike Cockburn and Brian Kitching. The second event, the Class singles, had only 12 entries so was run as an Advanced Competition, and was run as an American with 2 blocks. The block winners were Peter Quinn from Hurlingham and Alan Cottle from Sussex County Croquet Club. The final was an eventful match with mistakes on both sides due to a fast court! There was some excellent croquet as well and the winner was Alan Cottle by +14. Alan was unbeaten throughout the tournament and was a worthy winner of the Horsborough Trophy. The third place was won by Tal Golesworthy who beat Paul Watson +20 in the 3rd and 4th place playoffs.

An enjoyable 3 days with some interesting croquet and no rain to speak of! It was a pity there was only one entry for the handicap event which was cancelled.

The lawns were fast but uneven in places.

Thanks to the Compton Club for all their help and for the delicious food!
