Egypt staged a magnificent fight-back to come back from 8-4 down to lead 9-8 briefly before RoW came back to lead 10-9. Egypt then squared the Test at 10-10 and the outcome came down to the top singles between Reg Bamford and Ahmed Nasr.

Reg was at his best all weekend so Ahmed was guaranteed to have a fight on his hands. However, after a lengthy duel over hoop 1 in the opening game, Reg secured that and, with the rain returning, Ahmed showed signs of concern and began taking a series of ultra-aggressive shots. This gave Reg a 3-0 lead which became 5-2 and was converted to a 7-2 win.

The second game started similarly with Reg taking a 3-0 lead. Ahmed won 4 and play was suspended for 15 minutes while heavy rain poured down. Ahmed showed great character by nailing a 10 yard clearance in front of 5 but then failed 5 from short range to gift a 4-1 lead. This became 5-2 and then 5-3 and 6-3 with the rain making itself felt at intervals.

Ahmed won 10 with K after an excellent semi-stop clear with B which sent Reg's R to W boundary while B landed only 2 yards E of 11. Despite this advantage, Reg sent Y to 2yds NNW of 11 and Ahmed elected to try to take close position with B blocking Y but failed in its blocking intent. R was sent to sufficiently good blocking to induce a miss with K and Reg smoothly ran an angled 11 position to wrap things up.

David Openshaw thanked the Roehampton Club and John Spiers for their roles in making the event happen before presenting medals to all 12 players and the Ramsis Cup to Reg as the winning captain.
