This is to invite you to read my article "Which ranking system?", which has just been posted at www.oxfordcroquet.com/tech/nel-rank/

It is essentially a review of the five ranking systems maintained by Chris on The Croquet Records Web Site - www.croquetrecords.com/ - together with a new system thrown in for good measure.

The essential content is summarized in a few tables which should be accessible to those who know what percentages mean and who can count i.e. everybody. I mention this because a casual glance will cause you to be confronted here and there by some very uninviting symbols and statements. When that happens just hold your nose and skip until you reach a spot where something more digestible is offered. You don't need to know any of that technical stuff in order to read the tables they lead up to.

I've included algorithmic information for the sake of that small but important group of readers who do take an interest in such things.
