On Friday 29th May, in warm and brilliant sunshine at the Writtle College Sports Ground near Chelmsford, Hurlingham managed to beat Chelmsford & Bentley in the first round of the Inter-Club Golf Championship by seven matches to nil.

In the morning Nelson Morrow and David Nicholson beat Les Renew and Judith Hand, Richard Hoskyns beat Lena Bongard, and Gabrielle Higgins beat Sheila Renew; in the afternoon, Nelson Morrow beat Les Renew, David Nicholson beat Judith Hand, Richard Hoskyns beat Sheila Renew, and Gabrielle Higgins beat Lena Bongard.
