Stephen Mulliner became the first Open Singles Golf Champion, beating John Moore of Tyneside by 7/3, 2/7, 7/6. Things appeared to be going all John's way in the third game with a lead of 5/1 but Stephen fought back to clinch the match at the last hoop. The doubles event was won by Derek Old and Chris Sheen with 5 wins out of six.
