Margaret Cowman won the 12th Women's GC Championship at Ripon Spa

A field of nine players started on Friday in one block all play all, two games. Unfortunately by Saturday morning, the field was depleated to seven owing to illness. The top four players qualified for the semi finals, which were best of three. Ann Brookes beat Freda Vitty 7/6, 7/6 and Margaret beat Jane Pringle in the other semi final 7/6, 4/7, 7/6.

The final was a speedy affair with Margaret winning the first game 7/3 and looking like running away in the second game and despite a great rally by Ann, Margaret Cowman prevailed winning 7/6.
