Tyneside beat Belsay Hall 5-1

[<<] [>>] by Colin Green at Tyneside Croquet Club
1 Jun 2013 (GC - Murphy Shield)

All of the games were closely fought, but in a friendly manner, in this local derby. Despite the good weather forecast, the play started in the cold and wet, and Belsay Hall got off to a flying start winning the doubles in straight sets. Tyneside fought back, however, with solid singles play and eventually ran out winners by 5.5 to 1.5.

Alison Heywood Hill played well on her Murphy Shield debut and achieved a handicap reduction. Colin McDonald made his comeback from retirement with a 100% record, showing that he hasn't lost any of his skill and enthusiasm for the game.
