Nick Cheyne won the Hurlingham Golf Croquet Handicap Tournament

Ten players assembled in beautiful weather. The handicap range was wide with 'seasoned campaigners' mixing with those in their first tournament. Robin Wootton, the defending champion, fought hard but found the giving of bisques harder than he did last year. Nick Cheyne, who was runner up last year, always looked capable of overcoming lines of bisques and was the comfortable winner of the final against John Bowcott having lost a more closely contested match in the less important block stage.
