Ashby beat Belsay Hall 5-1
[<<] [>>] by Ray Mounfield
at Ashby Croquet Club
22nd May 2015
(GC - Inter-Club)
The Belsay Hall team drove the long return distance to Ashby in a single day. The result of the match was not able to provide them any comfort on the way home.
They fought hard though and only suffered one spell of being dominated when King found some consistency and won 10 of the last 12 hoops in his rubber against Johnson. This took the score to 3-0 in Ashby's favour. The rest of the Belsay Hall team (Errington, Hunter and Dixon) all fought hard to prevent the final losing point of the match, hoping to force the resumption of the round 1 rubber between R Mounfield and Dixon.
In the end, O'Brian prevailed to provide Ashby with the fourth point, having demonstrated consistent ability with his jump shots all day.
If Belsay Hall can beat Tyneside in the Inter-Club Murphy Shield then the two clubs will have another tie to compete in the next few weeks.
