Andy Myers won the Hamptworth Super-B-Level Tournament

Andy Myers won this annual Hamptworth tournament for the second successive year, but only by the skin of his teeth.

There was a triangular three-way tie between Andy, Chris Donovan and Kevin Carter. It was settled by the 'quality of opponents' formula, which favoured Andy. This was a predictable result, since he was clear leader of the field for all of the tournament before falling to Chris, who had pegged out one of his balls.

If it were a handicap tournament then birthday-boy Richard Stevens would probably have won. He played superbly off 7 - the highest handicapped player by a long way - to secure two good wins. Harry Midgley played at his eleventh different club this season!

There were many peeling attempts. In fact, Andy peeled 4-back five times but tended to have difficulties with penult. David Boyd's TP attempt also ground to a halt when he peeled penult backwards. Yes, the good food and beer had a lot to answer for....
