On Bank Holiday Monday players gathered from across the country for the annual Budleigh Salterton May Week Tournament. For some this was their first CA Tournament, taking the plunge by entering the doubles, where they would be paired with more experienced players.
On Wednesday, however, tragedy struck, when Ian Telfer from Palace Wells CC collapsed whilst walking to the lower lawns. Despite the valiant attempts for resuscitation made by players under telephone guidance, the paramedics and the air ambulance, it is very sad to report that Ian did not recover.
