Rother Valley Challenge Report

[<<] [>>] by Anne Sugarman at Rother Valley
3 Sep 2016 (AC - Handicap)

The Tenth Rother Valley Challenge was held on Friday/Saturday September 2/3rd at Rother Valley Croquet Club, Duncton, West Sussex unfortunately the good weather broke down and on the Saturday the players got a soaking whilst playing the last game of the tournament.

The Rother Valley Challenge is a Short Association Croquet Tournament played on half lawns with almost full bisques. Five teams competed for the coveted Acorn Trophy. This year the participants were Fishbourne & Worthing, Preston Park, Woking and two teams from Rother Valley. Forty games were played in all during the two day event

The event is restricted to players whose handicaps are greater than nine and so is an excellent introduction to tournament play for high handicap players.

The team winner was Woking whose team won 29 games but the player with the most wins was Morgan Chase from Preston Park who won and pegged out in all has eight games

The catering team at Rother Valley excelled themselves as ever an excellent lunch served in the Village Hall with a panoramic view over the South Downs.
