The morning play resulted in the doubles going to the visitors but the hosts taking the two singles to lead 2-1.
Following a pleasant lunch Hamptworth strode quickly into an unassailable lead winning three singles matches in straight games leaving the fourth singles for David Cooper and Peter Haydon to battle out. After some inspiring croquet David taking the first game 7-6 then losing the second 6-7, Peter winning with a spectacular long jump shot. They shook hands taking a half, since the match had already gone in favour of Hamptworth.
