Adrian Morris won the Sally Nicholls trophy for the Edgbaston B-Class

31st August 2017 (AC - Handicap)

B Level Advanced trophy held at Edgbaston on the 27 to 28th of August

Having performed well in last week's (super-B) Tompkinson event Adrian Morris returned to Edgbaston to take our B Class trophy with five straight wins. His game against Michael Finnigan was probably the best of the event where an early break to 4-back by Morris was matched by a similar response by Finnigan. Several attempts to pick up a second break failed until Morris finally won +14. First-time competitor Philip Wood was the only opponent to put Morris under pressure, losing only +1(t) in the time turn. Adrian's well-earned handicap reduction means we will miss him from this event in future and wish him every success.

Edgbaston President Ken Jones beat first-time entrant Cliff Daniel +1(t) in the final game for second place and gained a handicap reduction to 4.5, restoring its 1979 level.

Given the excellent playing conditions the overall play was rather disappointing. All-round breaks were quite rare and 60% of the games went to time, many won by only a hoop or two.
