Having lost one player through injury just before this tournament the nine remaining players were delighted to welcome Martin Russell who had been told about the tournament during a short croquet training session. This was his first ever tournament and his first game of AC with a handicap on full sized lawns He was given a nominal handicap of 18 and promptly annihilated the manager in his opening game. He played his remaining games off a handicap of 14. Players enjoyed between six and eight games over the weekend and there was a relaxed friendly atmosphere. The final on the Sunday afternoon between John Henderson and Martin was eventually won by Martin. Both players had earned well deserved handicap reductions over the course of the weekend. Martin left the tournament with a trophy and a handicap of 12.
Special thanks go to Katie who saved the organisation of the tournament on the final day by retrieving all the paperwork after I had accidentally thrown it out of the bedroom window before play on Sunday.
