CA GOLF CROQUET INTER CLUB COMPETITION - SEMI-FINAL

ASHBY CC beat HAMPTWORTH CC ... 6-1

Eynsham Croquet Club proved to be an ideal neutral venue for the GC Inter-Club Semi-final. Ashby and Hamptworth, both without their strongest players, travelled similar distances to find their hosts very welcoming and the Eynsham courts beautifully prepared. With the doubles and two singles completed in time for an early lunch the score stood at 2-1 to Ashby. Afternoon play saw their lower handicaps giving the advantage to the Ashby team, but the final score of 6-1 does not reflect the closeness of some of the encounters. Teams and supporters all agreed that the day had been most enjoyable and look forward to further opportunities to compete.
