Believe it or not between the first and second heatwaves (2 and 3 August) it was a pleasant 20-24C when the Hamptworth 2 day handicap tournament took place. Hamptworth was particularly delighted to run this tournament as over the last 5 years there has been a lack of entries and Covid.

There were 8 players ranging from 6 to 20 handicap. Rita Nunn, the manager,(assisted by Richard Dickson) worked out an all play all, 18 point, format. However, competition was fierce and this did not produce a clear winner - 3 people had 3 wins. It was therefore decided on hoops with the cup going to Lynn Pearcy. Thanks go to Rita for great management and to the players who coped well with dry fast lawns.
