The day started with a minute's silence to pay our respects to the Queen, our long-standing patron.

Play (all play all) started under a cloudy sky and the mornings play seemed to go in favour of the higher handicapped players. They seemed to continue with few exceptions, with the day ending with Jason Carly -3, being the only player to win all his games.

He was closely followed by Roger Goldring, the defending champion, Terry Collis, Gill Brewer and Charles Briggs just behind, all on 6 wins each.

With seven rounds played on Saturday, Sunday would leave 6 rounds to play. In the morning session Marion Button, Carol Wadsworth and John Horne all had perfect mornings. Terry Collis carried on winning with just one loss. Jason Carly found that the number of extra shots for his opponents, were just too much and lost 3 from 4. Roger Goldring was having a bit of an up and down time.

Come the last 3 rounds it was very even and by the last round we had Gill Brewer on 8 wins with a better hoops difference than Terry Collis who had 9 wins. Gill Brewer won her last game, whilst Terry Collis lost his. Leaving Gill Brewer in provisional first place, an excellent performance, having started GC only last October. It all came down to Roger Goldring who needed to beat Ron Gould, who had 8 extras shots, to beat Gill.

It inevitably went to the 13th hoop. With Roger finally winning and so retained the title he won last year.
