Bowdon beat Ashby 5-1

A strong Bowdon team welcomed Ashby in the first round of this year's championship. The last time we had met was in the 2021 final, when Ashby won 4-0.

Bowdon edged the morning 2-1, with an entertaining sequence of shots in the doubles. Competing for Hoop 5, Will cleared J-P's ball to the North boundary. J-P's return shot ended up just in the jaws, having run the hoop from the H12 side. Paul's response was to successfully take on the angled jump, ending up north-east of the peg.

After a warming lunch, Bowdon won the bottom 3 singles rubbers, with the tie between J-P and Will left unfinished at one game all.
