Mike Hedge won the Newport Open Weekend

After a week of persuading players to stand in, then followed more than once by a withdrawal, only 5 players contested the Newport Open Weekend.

At the end of the all-play-all block, there was a three-way tie.

The first phase of resolution of the tie was a Nottingham tie-break (2-ball break starting at hoop 4).

The most impressive croquet of the weekend saw Rod Ashwell, Mike Hedge and Duncan Hector score 5, 6 and 5 hoops respectively.

The second phase saw a 1-ball semi-final where Rod beat Duncan, but he then lost to Mike in the final.

Nice weather, good but meagre company.
