On paper Wrest Park had the stronger squad but the morning singles matches were shared. The doubles game went the full distance with Ealing snatching it 7-6 in the third game. 2-1 to Ealing at lunch!

Ealing won the first of the afternoon singles matches to finish: 3-1 to Ealing with one more match needed for a home win. The second match went to Wrest Park but Ealing's 10 handicap newcomer gave a spirited performance, losing in 3 games. The tie was sealed when Ealing's No 1 player beat his Wrest Park Counterpart on the 13th in game 2.

The final match went to Wrest Park to make it 4-3 overall, with Ealing progressing to the semi-final.
