Croquet England has arrived

On 28 July 2022, the members of the Croquet Association authorised an application to the Charity Commission to establish Croquet England as a new Charitable Incorporated Organisation. This application was approved by the Charity Commission on 22 March 2023.

The Croquet Association still exists but will be dissolved by its Executive Officers, in accordance with the resolution that was passed at the AGM of the CA in October 2023, as soon as all of the necessary steps have been taken to transfer all of the assets and liabilities to Croquet England and when they consider it prudent to do so.

Croquet England has now taken over as the National Governing Body for Croquet. The process of transferring all the assets and liabilities of the Croquet Association to Croquet England is well under way. Arrangements have been made; bank accounts opened and new insurance policies arranged. Many policy documents, procedural directives and guides for members, associates and the affiliated Clubs and Federations have been re-written to accommodate the changes of names and the other adjustments required because Croquet England is a charity (Number 1202444)

With effect from 1 January 2024 all individual members of the Croquet Association became Associates of Croquet England and they will all be invited to complete the declarations necessary for them to become voting members of the charity, if they wish.

All of the Member Clubs and Federations of the CA have been accepted as Affiliated Clubs and Federations of Croquet England.

The 2024 tournament, coaching and development programmes will continue as activities of Croquet England. The on-line Fixtures Book and Tournament Entry System will become available, as usual, in February.

The Croquet England website is being updated during this transition period and it is designed to be accessible to all. The "old" Croquet Association website is being re-configured as the Subscribers' website for Croquet England. Associates and Members can log in (just as they did before) to view (and, when necessary, to change) their entries in the Directory and to consult the array of announcements; advisory papers; guidance documents; application forms; committee agendas and minutes; current and past editions of the Croquet Gazette and the other Subscriber benefits.
