14th February (GC)

The Championship Series is the top tier in the GC Series hierarchy. The finalists of each of the 8 Championship events qualify for a place in the English National Singles Championship, one of the three major titles in the English calendar.

In 2024, the qualifying tournaments will be the Championships at Sidmouth (20-21 April), Nailsea (4-5 May), Colchester (11-12 May), Wrest Park (1-2 June), Ramsgate (15-16 June), Bowdon (6-7 July), Nottingham (13-14 July) and Hunstanton (10-11 August). The Final will be held at Nottingham, 21-22 September.

We hope that every strong GC player will try to qualify for the Final. Most of the qualifiers are played as best of three matches, to provide greater match play experience ahead of the World Singles and World Team Championship which will both be held in the next 12 months.

We encourage everyone to enter at least two or three of the above Championship Series to maximise your chances of achieving a place in the final. These events form an important part of selection decisions and we would like them to be as strong as possible to help our bid to win the Openshaw Shield.
