With eight players the tournament was held as a five round Swiss.

Brian Havill surged to 4/4, but he was not yet home and dry.

Michael Bithell had lost his first game, but the Swiss gambit worked and he reached 3/4.

With who-beat-whom as the tie-break, the last game was effectively a final.

Havill pegged out his opponent, a potent tactic at this level, and eventually won +4.

Bithell earned his Silver Award, and a decimation of his handicap.
