Colin Spencer won the Nottingham C-Level

Colin Spencer emerged victorious in a hard-fought Nottingham C level AC competition.

For several of the ten competitors it was their first opportunity to play without bisques and to try out Advanced rules.

The early lead was taken by Andy Sherwood, new to AC this year, who had amassed three wins from three games by close of play on Saturday.

But by lunch time on Sunday he was sharing the lead with Tom Dewar and Colin Spencer, who joined him on three wins. Since they had all beaten each other, there was the opportunity for a manager's nightmare of three people tied on four wins after the final round.

Colin and Tom duly won their games, but Andy lost to Steve Fisher. So, since Colin had earlier beaten Tom, he was declared the winner.

The Nottingham club is to be congratulated for avoiding the promised thunderstorms, so that play was able to continue throughout the weekend.
