The weekend saw 27 players struggling with baked lawns and unforgiving hoops. Predictably lots of games went to time. John and Barbara Haslam bt Ken Cooper and Charles Waterfield respectively in the semi-finals setting up another Haslamian final. John won eventually having stretched the game out with a grievous and 4-back leave. Rodney Parkins won the Blue block, but was too late for his train to receive his prize. An impressive performance by John Reece-Hoyes saw him win the Red block by some margin. The highlight of the weekend was a 'nearest the peg 4 ball decider' at Sunday lunch between Gina Lewis and Rob Edlin-White. Neither player walked to the peg to see if White or Red was closer (the crowd thought it very tight) despite both seaming to blast balls to 'take out' something. Hand shakes were exchanged before the manager was called on and measured a dead heat. Gina won the replay.
