The match was closely fought with the result dependent on the last game to finish. In the morning Colchester had a easy victory in the doubles, while the two singles were keenly contested with finally one win for each club. In the afternoon, Jack Wicks unfortunately pegged out his own ball while pegging out his opponent's front ball; at the time his partner ball was for one and his opponent's partner ball was for 4 back. Jonathan Hills had another good victory for Colchester and Denis Cross a good one for Hurlingham leaving the result to be decided by the match between Bob and Colin. A great fight back by Colin was witnessed after Bob had built up a lead but in the end Bob had a good hit in to finish off the match for Hurlingham.
