Series Overview

The GC Series are tiered Golf Croquet season-long competitions that group together certain tournaments of a similar class in the Croquet England Fixtures Calendar. Players can achieve direct qualification to a National Final by way of performance in a qualifying tournament. Most of these Series lead to a National Final, while the Open and D-Level Series are a straight 'points race' with no National Final.

Series Competition Qualification

Championship Series

1. The winners and runners-up of the Series tournaments qualify directly for the Final. If a Series event is not completed and there is not a definite result, the manager will submit a written report to the Director, who, in conjunction with the manager, will decide which players, if any, will qualify.
2. Remaining places are offered to the losing semi-finalists of the Series tournaments in order of highest Dynamic Grade as of the Selection Date.
3. If there are still places available, then players who have played in at least two of the Series events will be offered a place in order of highest Dynamic Grade.
4. If places still remain, then players who have played in one of the Series events will be offered a place in order of highest Dynamic Grade.
5. In exceptional circumstances, the GC Tournaments Committee can take whatever measures it sees fit to produce an appropriate final.
6. Note that players must declare their availability for the final on the Availability page by the Availability Closing Date.
7. The list of players obtaining places, together with reserves, will be published on the Croquet England website on the Selection Date.

Open and D-Level (10+) Series

1. There is no National Final for the Open or D-Level (10+) Series - the winner will be the player who accumulates the most points in the Series tournaments.
2. 10 points are awarded for winning a Series tournament, 6 points are awarded for finishing second, 4 points are awarded for finishing third, and 2 points are awarded for finishing fourth.
3. If a third/fourth place play-off is declined by one player but not the other, the player willing to play will be placed third and the unwilling player fourth (with points awarded as above).
4. If a third/fourth place play-off is declined by both players, they will be placed in joint fourth position and both players will score only 2 points each.
5. Players who have gained points in Series tournaments are shown on the Series pages (links above) in descending order.
6. If there is a tie on Series points after the last tournament, the Series winner shall be the player who has scored the greatest number of tournament wins, followed (in order) by the greatest number of second, third and fourth places. If players are still tied for the top position, they will be joint winners of the Series.

A-Level (0+), B-Level (4+) and C-Level (7+) Series

1. The winner of each of the Series tournaments will qualify for the Final (if there are more than 16 different winners from the qualifying tournaments, the final will be expanded to accommodate all; otherwise, the final will be limited to 16).
2. Final places not claimed as above will be allocated by points earned in the qualifying events from finishing second, third or fourth. Points will be awarded as with the Open and D-Level Series (2-4) above.
3. If there is a tie on Series points after the last tournament, the player who has scored the greatest number of second, third and fourth places (in order) shall qualify for the Final. If players are still tied, they will qualify in order of their Dynamic Grade on the allocation/selection date for that Final.
4. Players who have won Series tournaments are shown on the Series pages (links above), followed by those who have gained points in descending order.
5. The handicap restriction applies at the time of acceptance into the relevant qualifying tournament. Players who have qualified for the Final are not excluded because of their handicap.
