These game was developed initially by the Association Croquet Regeneration Working Party.

The normal version of the game is designed for two players. Each player has two balls (usually black/blue and red/yellow). Players take turns to play croquet strokes from a marked starting point with the aim to land their balls as close as possible to each of two target markers. A player scores a point for each ball that ends up closer to a marker than an opposition ball. The first player to 10 points wins.

How to Play

At the start of the game, the players toss a coin to determine who is to start. This player places the white marker anywhere they wish on the court. This is the spot from where the first set of shots will be played. He/she then places the 2 red markers on the lawn. These are the two targets at which the player should send their balls using a croquet stroke played from the white marker. The two red markers can be placed anywhere on the lawn, but should be placed apart and in positions that can be reached by playing a croquet shot.

Either ball can be aimed at either red marker. The player who placed the markers goes first. After both players have played a croquet stroke, the ball closer to each red marker scores 1 point for its owner. It is now the turn of the other player to place the three markers and play continues as before. The winner is the first player to reach 10 points.

Variations

The game can be played by up to four players using primary and secondary colours. Players take turns to place markers and play the first shot in the following order: black/blue, red/yellow, green/brown, white/pink.

An advanced version of the game can be played using a red and blue marker instead of the two red markers. The striker's ball must be aimed at the red marker and the other ball at the blue marker.
