Chris Clarke travelled 12,000 miles to win the East Midlands Championship, beating Ian Lines in the best of three play-off between the winners of the (unseeded) draw and process. David Maugham won the plate, beating me in the final ... after most of the field had been let off to watch the football!

The weather was dry for the three days, with a fair amount of sunshine, but not oppressively hot. The lawns were cut on Thursday and Saturday mornings, but had more live grass than usual at this time of year.

After the play-off, lawn one measured a bit over 11 seconds on the Plummer scale. The hoops were in fresh holes, but with no risk of wedging. There were 16 TPs (or TPOs or OTPs) in the 47 games in the main event and Maugham completed a sextuple in the semi-final of the plate.
