Chris Clarke retained the East Midlands Championship, beating Marcus Evans and William Gee in the finals of the Draw and Process respectively. Both runners-up got balls round to 4-Back in (I think) the third turn and embarked on a second break, but Marcus got cross wired from his pioneer at penultimate in a storm that set in after doing all the peels and William came to grief when a straight 4-Back peel stuck. Chris closed out both games with TPs. There were TPs in all Chris's games, but one was an OTP, thus breaking his record breaking run.

There was some sunshine between the showers, but the lawns were unusually slow for Nottingham. I was unable to get a Plummer measurement on the worst part of lawn 1 during the second final, as I could not hit a ball the requisite 35 yards!

The plate was won by Sam Tudor, beating Ian Lines, who had previously been undefeated in it, with a 5th turn TP in the play-off. A previous plate game, with a three ball ending, could only be completed before lunch by periodically inverting the layout of the court (treating hoop 3 as hoop 1), moving the balls an equal distance the other side of the peg, to avoid a flooded area between hoop 1 and the corner. (I'm not sure that was strictly within the manager's, otherwise extensive, powers, but, to avoid disturbing the hoops, the players colluded in the breach of Law 3(b)(2) while the court was inverted).

There was one impasse, in a three ball ending, but the players elected not to repeat it after the restart.
