A possible first occurred in the Budleigh Salterton Weekend. Husband and wife Ian and Ailsa Lines, from Bowdon CC, both reached the final of the 16 player knockout and hence both qualified for a CA Silver Medal. It is not known the last time an Open final was contested by a husband and wife. For the record Ian triumphed +1 on time in the third. Conditions became particularly difficult by the end because of the hot weather we are experiencing in the southern UK at the moment.
