Richard White won the Nottingham Open Weekend on 5th-6th September.
By the end of first day the top ranked four players (Aiton, White, Cordingley and Lines A.) were ahead of the field. After two more rounds of Swiss, White (having been beaten only by Aiton with an immaculate 26tp) and Cordingley were practically unassailable on 83% and 80% respectively so a best of 3 final was staged between them. White prevailed +2, +15, Cordingley narrowly missing a +26STP score in the first game with a failed half-jump at Rover. Triples were scord by Aiton (2), Cordingley, Rigge, Vincent and White (3). Martin Beacon, Nick Parish and Nick Saxton claimed good scalps, and Parish finished with a commendable 71% in the Swiss and might have achieved a runner up position if the manager had stuck doggedly to Swiss format rather than declaring a final.
Players had an average of 5.6 games each, quite a number choosing to watch the final rather than start another game.
Richard White - 83% Swiss, & 2-0 final
Phil Cordingley - 80% Swiss & 0-2 final
Nick Parish - 71%
