A slightly smaller field than usual (25 players) contested the annual
Nottingham tournament. The Robin Hood Gold Cup, the big handicap event, was
won by Dave Gunn who came through the qualifying Swiss unbeaten with seven wins
from seven, then beat Barbara Young, Clive Goode and Alain Giraud in the
knock-out. Having come down from 8 to 7 just before the tournament, Dave
went away with a reduction to 5.
Alain Giraud won the Open Singles, beating John Davis 2-0 in the play-off.
John and Alain met again in the final of the Handicap Doubles, partnering
Judith Moore and Sue Wileman respectively. John and Judith came out on top
of a close encounter.
Omied Hallam won the B class (handicaps 3 and over), beating Clive Goode in
the final. Roger Berkeley beat Derek Buxton in the C Level Singles
