Nine fairly evenly matched players assembled at Nottingham to contest this year's Nottingham Golf Croquet Open. Although the players were happy to see some cloud cover on Saturday, fewer were happy to see the drizzle on Sunday.

The format consisted of a single game, all play all block from which eight of the nine players would qualify to the knockout stage, whose seeding was determined by block position. The manager was thankful for his choice of format: although the top three qualifiers were readily identifiable from total games, a further four players all finished with four wins each! In the end, Rachel Rowe won the block, only having lost to her father Arthur who came second in the block.

Lionel Tibble played better on Sunday and met Rachel in the final. However, Rachel continued her winning form to win the final in two. She therefore secured her place in the Ascot Cup and won the Diamond Jubilee Bowl for the first time in its two year existence.

Ray Mounfield won the consolation event after a close final with Mike O'Brian. Arthur won the third place playoff against Richard Thompson.
