A demanding tournament, played in almost constant blazing sunshine throughout the three days. Competitors' handicaps ranged from 1 to 16 and competitors' ages ranged from 50-something up to 80-something. The younger and more vigorous competitors managed to complete 8, 9 or even 10 games over the three days, whereas the two oldest settled for a more modest two per day: they were drawn against each other in the final session and since the tournament had been decided just after tea time and the trophy had been presented they perhaps wisely decided to leave the game unfinished.
