Ashby beat Bishop Monkton 4.5-2.5

[<<] [>>] by Mick Haytack at Ashby
20 Jun 2017 (GC - Murphy Shield)

Following the three or four days of intense heat all eight players were pleased to see the temperature drop on Tuesday. The lawns were dry and quite fast so hoop approaches were not dead straightforward. The star performance of the day came from Bishop Monkton's Richard Field who playing off 7 won four straight games against 3 handicappers thus adding 68 points to his index and earning him a reduction to 6. The final game in the doubles was not played, with the agreement of both captains as the away team had a long journey home. It was a pleasure to welcome a very friendly team to our club and despite the disappointment I hope they enjoyed their day at Ashby.
