East and West Midlands Council Constituency
Serving Member
Patricia Duke-Cox (until October 2023)
Patricia represents the constituency that covers the combined Federations of East and West Midlands. Over the three years prior to her election, she served on two of the three CA working parties that presented the case for change and led to the acceptance of the new governance structure at the SGM in March 2019. She has a good understanding of how the previous Council worked and admired the dedication of those serving the croquet community. She served on Council for twelve years, two years as Chairman. She was honoured to be elected as a Vice-President.
Patricia has been a Federation representative and was the Chairman of the East Midlands area. She has served on the Federation committee since 1997.
Patricia's other interests, apart from croquet, are at her local Cottage Museum, where she is the current Chairman. She has assumed other officer roles, over the years, with local organisations such as the WI, village hall, swimming club, twins club etc.
Patricia believes that she can help establish a strategic vision for Council and identify and prioritise key long-term goals. She can lead, if required, and will happily listen to new ideas and implement those that are worthy. Good communication with others is, she believes, an essential part of working with members and this will give transparency for them to know what is proposed for their benefit.
Patricia was appointed as the Secretary of the Council for 2021-22 following the retirement of Dr Ian Vincent as Honorary Secretary and the creation of the new Secretariat led by the current Honorary Secretary. She is a member of the Association of Chairs, a national body, that offers her a network for advice and guidance should she need it.
