Morning all, and welcome to Roehampton for the first time today. Getting used to all this new technology, so I'm afraid you'll probably have to bear with a few cock ups first thing.
Conditions overcast, not sure if we're expecting rain. Lawns measured 11-11.5 Plummers a couple of days ago. since when there's been a lot of rain, so conditions expected to be easy, with easy hoops. Will try and get an up to date reading asap.
1. U supershot
2. Y on line of 3 & 4 level with 5
3. K hits Y
K going round
K approaching 3b, looking like the Ducks leave
Yep, K to 4b, Three Ducks. Nice calming turn. The odd 3/4 yarder, but otherwise fine
4. R centre balls Y. Applause
R runs 1, laid 4 ball break, and tpo if he wants it.
Danny seems to be looking for partner to discuss the tpo. Never one around when you want one...
It appears Danny's had permish for the tpo. 4b peel 6" through after 3
Penult peeled down to rover after 6. Americans seem to like leaving these sweaty 3/4 yarders in the middle of their breaks
Rover peel done going to 3b. Abother 3 yarder after 3b, just snicked this time.
Now all he has to do is mind his work...
Thematically leaves himself a 3 yard peg out, which hits. Y rushed to E boundary 2 yds N C4, R to C3
5 U takes contact from R, rolls it absolutely due N of 1 going to Y. Sends Y to 2 approaching 1, sailing 4 yds past. Takes 2.5 yd position, open to R
6 R to C4
7 U clangs one to 2 yds W of hoop
8 Y joins R in C4, 2 yds N
9. U misses R
10 Y has a cannon in C4. R to peg high on line of 3 & 4, approaching 1 from 4yds SE. Runs it with longish rush pointing at middle of N boundary
Rushes to 4 yds NE of the peg. plays a good cut to 4yds S of 2. Runs it with a rush to C3, U 5 yds S of 4
No rain yet but pretty nippy so jumper required. At least it's keeping Eddie the Hunter (a crocodile) sufficiently lethargic not to attack Eagleton, the American eagle mascot.
Y running 4 with U at 5, should finish
Bast pegs out
<
/p>
USA wins the first 13tpo(H)
In summary, USA got away with a poor contact leave, which made it far too easy for oppo to get a squeeze, when Dumergue failed to approach 1 or run it in his next turn
Game 2
======
1 U short super shot
2 R to optimum point E boundary
3 K misses R into C4
4 Y misses R froma A baulk, joining with it on E boundary
5 U misses Y
6 R makes 1 but fails angled 2 with all the balls. Bounces to W boundary level with the hoop
7 U by 2 misses K 5 yds SE of 5 to S boundary
8 R misses 23 yarder @ Y between hoop 3 & E boudary
9 U hits 6 yarder @ K. Rolls K to 2 going to R&Y, approaching 1 with 3 yd backward to. Runs a 45 degree 2 ft hoop with ease, 4 ball break
Irish pops R through 2 approching 1b(!), runs subsequent 3 ft hoop with no wire, clips 6 byd return roquet
Goes to 4b with reverse NSL, Y in 2, R 2 yds W of 4
10 Y lifts to A baulk, centre balls 11 yarder @ R
Runs 3 with a laid tpo, although hoop 4 pioneer (R) is 5 yds E of hoop 4. Peel goes through by 18 inches, rushes to C4
Runs 4, no rush N, so sends R to 6 going to K @ 5. Perfect control now
Smashes penult peel dead into far wire after 6, but it goes through by 6" anyway
Rolls peelee to 2 yds SSW of rover after 1b. Rushes it to 4 yds NNW after 2b, peel attempt bounces off to 2 ft W
Can't believe noone's mentioned this in commentary before, but the Aussies are wearing their convict numbers on their shirt sleeves and baggie caps.
Making penult with U 1 ft W of rover for st rover peel
R placed 1 yd W of rover prior to straight rover rover peel. Runs rover, rushes R to E boundary level with 4. K (irrelevantly) 6 yds S of 1, pegs out K, Y to C2. Applause
Lunch @ 12:44
11 K lifts to contact with R, rolls it to 5 yds NW of 1 going to Y in C2. Fantastic to to 5 ft slightly angled hoop1, smooooooooths it through and roquets R
Rolls R to 3 yds ESE of 6 going to Y 2 yds E of C2, takes off to 2, runs it and hits 3yarder on Y. Y to 4 getting a rush to 3, 3 ball break for the match
Bast duly completes his turn without drama to put USA 1-0 up in the test
